What To Expect From Your Bowen Therapist
The following are details of a typical session:
-
The client will fill in an information form about your general health and consent to the Bowen treatment
-
The therapist performs a few gentle moves by drawing the skin slack, nudging up against the edge of the muscle, tendon and then rolling over the muscle or tendon
-
The receptors of the muscle or tendon are engaged, and a message is sent to the brain about what state the body is in
-
The therapist will wait for a few minutes before performing similar moves as this gives time for the body to start processing the information the brain has received
-
This will continue until the session has finished
-
Once the treatment is finished, the client will need to drink plenty of water, walk around to integrate the body changes and wait for the body to respond to the messages it has received
To get the maximum benefit from your Bowen treatment, it is recommended that you do the following after your session:
-
Walk – get up and walk around every half hour or so. This will help the body to integrate the changes that have been made.
-
Water – drink plenty of water – sip rather than gulp. This allows the water to seep through your system. Water will flush out the toxins from your body that have been activated during your treatment
-
Wait – your body will continue processing the changes up to 10 days after the treatment
